New Mexico State Fair Concerts

Live music concerts are a favorite attraction at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque and in 2017 the concert schedule is a must. Along with rock legends Kenny Loggins and Kansas, up-and-coming country duo Big & Rich will make an appearance, along with country stars Sawyer Brown, Midland, The Last Bandoleros, Aaron Lewis and Rank Lil ‘Buckers.

Both rodeo and musical performances take place at Tingley Coliseum. Concert tickets include admission to the PRCA Rodeo before the concert, or if there is no rodeo, admission to the fair. The 2017 State Fair will be held September 7 through September 17 in Albuquerque. Tickets can be purchased at the University of New Mexico box office, by phone, or online.

Friday, September 8: Aaron Lewis and Rank Lil ‘Buckers (7 pm). Lewis showed his country in good faith with his solo album “The Road” in 2012, followed by “Sinner.”

Saturday September 9: Midland with The Last Bandoleros and PRCA Xtreme Bulls (7 pm) These two groups hail from Texas, with Midland offering a traditional sound, and The Last Bandoleros mixing rock, country and Tex-Mex for their uniqueness. Dream.

Wednesday, September 13: Sawyer Brown and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 pm) Sawyer Brown brings his classic country sound to the show. The band is famous for “Six Days on the Road,” “Used to Blue,” “Step That Step,” and “They Don’t Understand.”

Thursday, September 14: Kansas and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 pm) Kansas, with decades of legendary music behind it, is the highlight of the Tingley Coliseum for Thursday night. Since the classic rock band’s debut album in 1974, it has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Most know Kansas for their iconic “Dust in the Wind” (1977), the band’s only Top 10 hit. Other favorites are “Carry on Wayward Son” (1976) and “Point of Know Return” (1977).

Friday, September 15: Big & Rich and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 pm) John Rich and Big Kenny Alphin cover modern country and with two consecutive Top 10 hits (“Look at You” and “Run Away With You”), they are a duet to see. Tim McGraw joins them on their current single, “Lovin ‘Lately.”

Saturday September 16: Kenny Loggins and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 pm) Singer, songwriter and guitarist Kenny Loggins receives a star Saturday night at the fair. Rose to fame in the 1970s with Jim Messina in his rock group Loggins and Messina. He has Grammys (“This Is It”, “What a Fool Believes”, “Footloose”), he has had hits from soundtracks (“Top Gun”, “Footloose”, “Caddyshack”) and he claims a long list of albums that went platinum and gold in music that crosses several genres.
