Oklahoma City Holiday River Parade on the Oklahoma River

It’s a sign of the season, the lighted buildings, streets, and decorations throughout the greater Oklahoma City area. From the individual houses to the main unit via screens, the lights perfectly capture the joy of the holidays. But when it comes strictly to visual wonder, there may not be a better view of light than when it reflects off the water of the Oklahoma River.

That’s what you’ll find at Oklahoma City’s annual Holiday River Parade, a local favorite event where up to 20 boats, decorated with Christmas lights, float down the river as a spectacular fireworks display adorns the sky. It started in 2004 to officially open the river, now it also features a waterskiing show, Santa’s Arrival, and more, and admission is absolutely free. It is a perfect time for the whole family.
