Police rescue a drowning kangaroo in the sea

A kangaroo fighting in the waters off Safety Beach was rescued by police in Victoria, Australia. Victoria police said in a statement that they were alerted to the kangaroo situation at around 5 p.m. local time.

A video shows the police pulling the kangaroo out of the water. Mia Grant, who recorded the video, told Reuters that two people tried to rescue the kangaroo and bring it to shore but the marsupial jumped back into the water .

The kangaroo was taken to the Rosebud Police Station to be evaluated by a local wildlife center .
