Seat Mó: the brand that will promote urban mobility

The cities of the present have nothing to do with those of a decade ago. The citizens who live in them face challenges that have been postponed in the past. The climate crisis and the poor air quality in cities are not instantaneous consequences of 2020. Fortunately, it seems that we are aware of the avalanche that we have allowed to increase, as if progress and care for the environment were antagonistic concepts. For that reason, this year should make a difference. Automakers are called upon to make the definitive transition to electrification , a path that promises to be complicated but inescapable. At the rate that cities changed, so did their inhabitants, who have stopped understanding vehicles as property to turn them into a tool. Carsharing or motosharing services are part of our day-to-day life and the streets have witnessed the appearance of countless alternatives, such as electric scooters. Seat, aware of this challenge, has just launched the brand focused on micromobility Seat Mó.

Last year bells were heard from a new Seat brand, announced at the Smart City Expo World Congress. Months later, and on the occasion of the official inauguration of Casa Seat , the signature becomes a reality. The occasion deserved it, both for the current moment and for the boost that this type of news gives the sector. Seat Mó arrives at a key moment, just when individual mobility takes the side as a security measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The products of this business unit will be focused on short trips that are usually made in more populated cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, etc. Cities that intend to reposition people as protagonists of their streets, reducing the amount of polluting vehicles that circulate on them.

The first members of this metropolitan family are the Seat Mó eKickScooter 65 scooter and the Mó eScooter 125 , which in addition to being the first scooter of the Catalan firm is electric. But, as with Casa Seat, Mó hides much more than product. They will also launch an electric motosharing service in Barcelona, available from this July . In that sense, this platform serves as a definitive statement that makes Seat a mobility service provider, rather than a vehicle manufacturer.
