Seven positive tests in a pilot project in Berlin clubs

Dancing without a mask – despite the Delta? In several Berlin clubs this was now possible again after a previous test. The organizers are satisfied. “All security mechanisms” would have taken effect.

Berlin – There were seven positive tests at the start of the Corona pilot project in six Berlin clubs. “The people concerned have been contacted and sent to quarantine,” said Lutz Leichsenring from the club commission.

Leichsenring was satisfied with the start: “All security mechanisms have taken effect.” A total of around 2200 PCR tests were carried out on Friday. In addition to the 2000 guests, artists and staff were also tested, said Leichsenring.

In six Berlin clubs, including the “Kitkat”, the “Renate” and the “SO36”, you can dance again on two nights this weekend – without a mask or distance, but with a negative PCR test result. It should not be differentiated whether people have already been vaccinated.

“Club culture is part of the city’s DNA”

The “Reboot Clubculture” pilot project is intended to show the internationally celebrated Berlin club scene new perspectives after 18 months in the Corona-Aus.

The 2000 tickets for the project were sold within a very short time. According to Lutz Leichsenring, the parties on Friday evening were well attended. However, it only got full later, partly because the visitors still had to wait for their results, said Leichsenring.

The first guests arrived at the “Metropol” at 10:00 pm. Inside, the guests took off their masks, relieved. Berlin’s Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer (left) was “totally happy” about the start of the project: “Club culture is part of the city’s DNA,” said the politician.

The clubs had to close a year and a half ago to contain the spread of the corona virus. With #UnitedWeStream, Berlin event venues broadcast music from empty dance floors into many living rooms. In the meantime it is allowed to dance outside in the capital again – in compliance with hygiene regulations. Dance events have not yet been allowed inside. dpa
