Sony begins to understand (a little) what it had to enhance in PlayStation Now (although it is still far from Xbox Game Pass)

Since the arrival of PlayStation Now in Spain became official, I have only made use of the free trial that is granted to new users, since for now I have not found any incentive for those of us who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus, a service that seems to be going back.

Another reason why I have not subscribed to PS Now is how unattractive its catalog is (with too much PS3 stuffing) or those controversial waits on its servers (which did not touch me, but are there), among other aspects. But at least Sony is improving these last few months with each arrival.

Several of the best … of 2014, 2015 and 2016

Although we have not yet witnessed any month on PlayStation Now that has blown our minds, it is true that for the month of August there are going to be three great successes from past years. Specifically the following:

  • (2014) Wolfenstein: The New Order
  • (2015) Fallout 4
  • (2016) DOOM

Compared to the previous months, it is a substantial increase in PS4 games of more than proven quality , since until now there were one or, at most, two notable ones (Rocket League and Borderlands: A Very Beautiful Collection have been incorporated this July) , which has not meant, in any case, that no more PS3 games continue to arrive.

There is the Castlevania collection of MercurySteam, without going any further. We have the two Lords of Shadow plus that portable HD conversion of Mirror of Fate, among other games that will be available on August 6.

Until now, as happened in the month of May, there were at most a couple of notable games from the ten new additions, such as Batman Arkham Knight (PS4) and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3), without forgetting the retro part ( Wild Guns Reloaded) or the space for the indies (cheap).

PS Now has to bet on the present

Since Sony dispensed with PS3 and PS Vita last March in the face of PlayStation Plus incentives , PlayStation Now is the only stronghold where past jewels of the PS3 console are being rescued from oblivion.

The problem is that PlayStation Now is still far from Xbox Game Pass in terms of catalog. It is worth that the first is in streaming and the second in download, but it is difficult for the Japanese company to offer fresh products to its subscribers (even on PlayStation Plus, where there were certain news before, such as the boom that Rocket League supposed ) and it does not help that There are still differences with respect to the North American market, where in the month of August the game Tekken 7 will be included in PlayStation Now.

It is true that it is still an “old” game (from 2017) and that it is currently in its second season, with two expansions that do not cost little, precisely, but Sony should not hesitate so much when it comes to getting more wet with the incentives of its game streaming knowing that it is still far behind digital games, despite the obvious growth of the PS Now service since it expanded to many more territories this year.

For now, where it does pay off is for PC users who do not have a PlayStation console , because they instantly access nearly 600 games, of which there are several exclusive to PS3 and PS4. However, we will have to see how the issue evolves and if before saying goodbye to 2019 we see a more current video game and not just an increase in the essential PS4 games.

And let’s not say when PS5 comes out … How do you see the issue?

Why Sony PlayStation is mad at Microsoft Xbox

The company has indicated to the CMA that it is not harming the industry with the purchase of the video game studio.

PlayStation will bet on mobile games

The company noted that it will release games from its most successful franchises, as well as some brand new IP.

Sony will raise the price of PS5 and includes Mexico in this price increase

The increase will also apply to the Mexican market, where the cost of the console will rise by 1,000 pesos.

Exclusive video games on PS or Xbox are a thing of the past

The CEO of Microsoft Gaming said in an interview that the future of the industry is changing and companies must generate models where users feel comfortable.

No what no? Death Stranding will come to PC Game Pass

Hideo Kojima's game was released exclusively on PlayStation 4, but now more people can enjoy it through their Game Pass subscription.
