Sparks Farmers ‘Market

The 2014 Sparks Farmers ‘Market is being produced by Crystal Bridges Enterprises, Inc. (Shirley’s Farmers’ Markets) and the City of Sparks. The market focuses on being a place for families to come spend a fun afternoon and enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. (This is the same event that was previously called the Sparks Hometowne Farmers’ Market.)

About the Sparks Farmers Market

Sparks Farmers Market 2014 will be the 22nd season of this popular event. The market will be in Plaza Victoriana Square, between Victoriana Avenue and the Century Theaters. A portion of Victorian Avenue will be closed on market days, from 16th Street to Victorian Plaza Circle East. The closing will be from 12 noon to 10 at night.

The market will be on Thursdays from 3 pm. M. At 8 p. M. Emphasis is placed on local farmers and food, giving people the opportunity to bring home locally produced food for home meals. The opening day in 2014 is Thursday June 12, and the market repeats every Thursday until August 21. There will be no market on July 31 due to Hot August Nights, which will take over Victorian Plaza in Sparks and downtown Reno from July 29 to August 3)

Each week features new themes, different community engagement groups, stage music and street performers, and new sponsors. As with entering the markets, enjoying the entertainment is free.

If you want to get a real local, look for the “Nevada Grown” sign on produce vendor booths, ensuring you’re shopping for groceries at nearby Nevada locations like Fallon, Yerington, and even Reno. Our Northern California neighbors are well represented too, particularly with fruits, berries and vegetables better suited to their more temperate climate.

About Pets at Sparks Farmers Market

The Sparks Farmers’ Market is a NO PETS event, except for registered service animals. Please leave your pets at home when you attend this event.

Food trucks at the Sparks Farmers Market

A feature of the Sparks Farmers Market are the food trucks. Several of our local Reno mobile restaurants will be located in Victorian Plaza across from The Nugget. In past markets, these included Kenji, Taste of New York, Dish Truck, and St. Lawrence Pizza Company.

Attend the Sparks Farmers Market

Victorian Square Plaza is between Pyramid Way and 14th Street, on the north side of I80 and next to the water feature in front of Century Theaters. The twin towers of The Nugget Hotel Casino are nearby. There are adjacent parking lots and parking structures on C Street. Thousands of people attend every Thursday, so if you don’t get there early, parking will be a hassle. One way to get there without a car is to take the RTC RIDE bus to the Centennial Plaza station, next to Victoriana Plaza.

Entry to the Sparks Farmers’ Market is free. Look for the yellow recycling bins to dispose of recyclable plastic bottles n. 1 and n. 2. Certain items are not allowed: glass containers, alcohol and pets. Please leave your dogs at home (except certified service animals). For more information, call (775) 353-2291.
