Telluride Gay Ski Week 2017

Home to Telluride Gay Ski Week during the last week of February (this year’s dates are February 20 – February 27, 2016), the stunning Telluride Ski Resort rises sharply over the historic town for the that bears his name. This challenging mountain with over 147 runs and a 4,500-foot vertical drop (highest point 13,150 feet) is one of western Colorado’s world-class facilities. And it’s in a laid-back, upscale, and gay-friendly city, with a number of stellar restaurants, inns, and shops.

Details on this year’s event will be posted here as information is released. Here’s a look at last year’s event in the meantime:

During Gay Ski Week, accommodations are at major official host hotels, including the elegant Hotel Madeline, as well as Camel’s Garden Hotel, Mountain Lodge Telluride, and the historic New Sheridan Hotel. Telluride is buzzing with activity all winter long, but it’s also a beautiful place for hiking, fishing, and camping during the summer months – visit the Telluride Tourist Office website for more information.

Ski Week is a non-stop parade of festivities – here’s an official Telluride Gay Ski Week schedule. Many parties, including drinks and breakfasts after skiing, take place inside Hotel Madeline. You can purchase tickets and passes to Telluride Gay Ski Week events here.

Telluride has no shortage of gay-friendly accommodations, including the official headquarters of Telluride Gay Ski Week, the Madeline Telluride Hotel; Official host hotel for Gay Ski Week, the charming and historic New Sheridan Hotel; the elegant Camel’s Garden Hotel; and the popular Mountain Lodge Telluride. Some others worth considering include the Picos, a Grand Heritage Resort & Spa. For condo and ski home rentals, look into Telluride Alpine Lodging.

Telluride is in southwestern Colorado. The city’s small airport had no commercial service at the time of this writing, but you can fly to nearby Montrose (a more reliable option anyway, because it’s less likely to be affected by bad winter weather), with service from several major cities in Allegiant, Delta, United and American.
