We believe that we are tough guys, fearless beings capable of resisting the impulses to buy that the most cutting-edge and sexiest advertising throws at us. But deep down we are not, we are not vaccinated by its charms and if the ads are as good as these there is nothing to do.
AdweekMedia has been preparing a contest for some time to select the best ads of the decade. Note that I say decade and not year, so imagine the quantity and quality of the contenders. Some contenders that encompass the best of the best in international advertising and among which two ads have slipped that at the time impacted the entire gaming community. One from ‘Halo 3’ and one from PS2, do you remember them?
The “ Diorama ” for the Microsoft game that they created in TAG United States toured the world and was the true king of the Christmas campaign in its launch year. And the other, ‘ Mountain ‘ by TBW London for Sony PlayStation 2, caused a sensation at the time.
The two have made it into the 27 finalists for the best advertisement of the decade. Unfortunately they have not won but they show the high level and how seriously multinationals and advertising agencies take the video game sector. And it is that although we go hard, before two announcements like these, who does not want to play ‘Halo 3’ or have a PS2?
By the way, I leave you one of the Sony ads that has impacted me the most and that I remember as if it were yesterday the first day I saw it. That day I knew I wanted a PSX. Doesn’t it perfectly summarize what it’s like to be a gamer and love this world of video games?
