And once again, we find that incongruously the best-selling game is not a game, but an additional Wii controller that comes with a free set: ‘ Wii Play ‘. It already happened in December and it has happened again in January. Full Christmas maelstrom. After the command, a table, also for Wii, since ‘ Wii Fit ‘ is in second place. And in third? A steering wheel, of course, the one that comes with ‘ Mario Kart Wii ‘. After them, more trash like ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2009’ for PS3, PS2 and PSP , ‘Brain Training’, ‘Monopoly’ and similar football or “social” works.
Fortunately, sanity returns to the list when we look at the individual sales of the consoles, where we see how, for example, on PS3 ‘Fallout 3’, ‘Resistance 2’, ‘ GTA IV’ or ‘Assassin’s Creed’ has sold a lot; or games like ‘Gears of War 2’, ‘Fable II’ or ‘Prince of Persia’ on Xbox 360. I was already freaking out …
Fortunately next month we will be able to review the February sales and the effects of Christmas will be almost definitely behind us. I finished last month by commenting that we were sowing winds, and that we will pick up storms if we continue to feed sales lists like those that can be seen at this time of year … and I reaffirm what has been said.
Let’s hope that at least within 30 days we can count very different things from the list of best sellers in our country, that lately we are a bit in the doldrums with so much small-time game among the most profitable of the month.
It is unavoidable. It also happens many times in industries such as film, television or music that the most seen / heard is not always what the lovers of it consider to be the best … Vox populi , they call it.
