The keys to a good breakfast according to science

Starting the morning with a good diet is essential to have enough energy to meet all the obligations and challenges that we face every day. For this reason, a study led by researcher Tanja Kral from the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences at the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) has concluded that the best for this objective is a breakfast rich in protein. .

What kind of proteins?

A breakfast with the presence of eggs, oat bran or ham makes up an excellent menu, especially for the little ones, preventing them from taking in extra calories at lunchtime and thus preventing the wave of obesity that is hitting the entire planet.

The researchers conducted an experiment with 40 children between the ages of 8 and 10 , all of healthy weight, who were divided into groups to eat different types of breakfast each day. The total calories for each of the breakfasts was 350 . After breakfast, the little ones played together with the experts to simulate the activity of a normal day. Later, they gave them lunch. Meanwhile, the children were asked if they were hungry or how much they would be able to eat at this time if they were hungry. This test lasted three days.

The experiment ended three years later, with follow-up by parents, rather than researchers.

The results revealed that those children who had eaten a protein-rich breakfast (especially the one that included eggs) decreased their energy intake at lunch by up to 70 calories.

The study has been published in the journal Eating Behaviors.
