They design a contraceptive device for men (without hormones)

The inventor of this ultrasound contraceptive device is the German Rebecca Weiss , a graduate in industrial design from the University of Munich. The James Dyson Awards "celebrate, encourage and inspire designers with new ideas for problem solving."

In this case, the gadget, dubbed COSO, is described as a "hormone-free, reversible, male contraceptive device based on ultrasound for home use."

Weiss said the lack of male contraceptive options led her to develop "a new contraceptive approach for men."

How would it work?

The user would spread his legs, grab his testicles and place them inside the device; Then I would fill it with water and heat it to the required temperature. The testes would be hit with ultrasound for several minutes to suppress spermatogenesis, which would cause temporary infertility by losing the ability to produce sperm.

Weiss plans to test the viability of the device, as well as raise funds for clinical trials.

As the German winner of the Dyson Prize, the inventor is shortlisted for the international award, which carries a prize of $ 45,000 (about € 38,000).
