It was characterized by the appearance of dinosaurs and the predominance of conifers , according to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE).
It was baptized with that name in 1834 by Friedrich Von Alberti, who was based on the three different layers that are usually found in the soils of this period. In addition to the above, if it stands out for something, it is because of the break-up movements that led to the fragmentation of Pangea.
The Triassic was followed by the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The climate was predominantly hot and dry but continental in character, something that made the winters very freezing. Regarding vegetation, the most widespread plants were conifers, cycads and lymphocytes, among others.
In this period the first mammals also emerged, which evolved from mammalian reptiles. Dinosaurs were marked in their beginnings by their small size and bipedal shapes, and by the end of the stage they were already tall vertebrates that dominated the planet.
