UK bans sale of puppies in stores

Young under six months of age cannot be sold. With this measure, the British government wants to avoid the early separation of mothers and young , also farms or places of mass breeding of animals for sale and export. Whoever wants a puppy, will have to contact the kennel directly or better, adopt in a shelter.

Known as Lucy's Law , this rule is named after a cavalier king dog who was rescued from a mass breeding farm in 2013 in Wales. Lucy lived most of her life in a cage , which caused severe hip problems.

Before the Lucy Act, the British government did a survey on animal protection. 95% of those surveyed rejected the pet trade under six months of age.
