Is there really a vaginal orgasm? A group of scientists from the Department of Biology of the University of Florence (Italy) affirms that terms as widespread in society as “G-spot” or vaginal or clitoral orgasm, are completely incorrect and all they do is sow confusion. , both between men and women.
The vaginal orgasm, according to experts, does not exist and the majority of women around the world are unable to reach orgasm during intercourse. “Experts in sexual medicine and sexologists must disseminate certainties among all women, based on the biological bases of the female orgasm, and not hypotheses or personal opinions,” explain Vincenzo and Giulia Puppo, authors of the study.
Misused expressions include, for example, the internal clitoris. “ The internal clitoris does not exist ; the entire clitoris is an external organ. The clitoris is not formed by two arches, but by the glans, body and roots ”, they clarify. Others of the most used are the “vaginal orgasm” and the “G-spot”, both incorrect and which do not fit at the anatomical, physiological or embryological level: ” the vagina has no anatomical relationship with the clitoris , which is an organ perineal, while the supposed ‘G-spot’ is in the urethra, ”the researchers note.
The “female ejaculation” is not saved either , since it has no scientific basis. What they do give credit to is the “female penis”, which is nothing but the clitoris, the labia minora and the corpus spongiosum of the urethra. All of them constitute the key to orgasm for women.
“In all women , orgasm is always possible if the female erectile organs are properly stimulated during masturbation, cunnilingus, masturbation by the partner or during vaginal or anal intercourse, if the clitoris is stimulated at the same time with a simple finger ”, clarifies Puppo.
The article has been published in the journal Clinical Anatomy Review and was intended to review the terminology most used by sexologists regarding women’s sexuality.
