Waitress gets a huge tip – and is fired shortly afterwards

Curious: after a waitress got a tip in the four-digit range, her employer fired her. But that’s not the end of the story.

Arkansas (USA) – Everyone knows the unpleasant situation after a delicious meal in a restaurant: How much should you tip? What is too much, what is too little? The rule of thumb, which says that 20 percent of the food bill should be given as a tip, often helps. A 44-member company in the USA ignored this rule. Each of the guests of the so-called “$ 100 Dinner Club” gave a tip of $ 100. The two waitresses could look forward to an insane tip of 4400 US dollars (around 3900 euros). However, this joy was short-lived, especially for one of the two waitresses.

Restaurant fired waitress shortly after a four-digit tip

Waitress Ryan Brandt couldn’t believe her luck. Half of the $ 4,400 was for her, the other half for the second waitress. Dinner organizer Grant Wise captured the moment on his Instagram channel. But the restaurant “Oven and Tap” threw Brandt a thick line on the bill.

Just 30 minutes after she received the money, the restaurant chefs announced that she could only keep 20 percent of her stake. In a statement to the TV broadcaster KFSM , the bosses Mollie Mullis and Luke Wetzel explain that at “Oven and Tap” the tip is divided among all employees. Whether this is really the case cannot be conclusively confirmed.

Grant Wise gave the large tip to waitress Brandt in front of the restaurant door. Shortly thereafter, Ryan Brandt received a shocking phone call: The restaurant fired her after three and a half years of service. At the request of the US broadcaster CBS News , the restaurant did not provide any further reasons.

Grant Wise then posted an appeal for donations on Instagram. He writes: “I set up a GoFundMe page to help her raise money for the next few months so that she can get through the holidays as stress-free as possible and concentrate on getting back on her feet.” The waitress raised an unbelievable $ 8,732.

But that’s not all: Another call for donations is currently underway, initiated by Grant Wise. The next “$ 100 Dinner Club” dinner will take place in January. The amount now in excess of $ 8,732 is then paid out to the restaurant’s waiters. At the moment (December 15th, 12:22 p.m.) the account has already received an incredible $ 14,000. Accordingly, the waiters can look forward to tips of more than $ 5,400.
