The Burrow is a shelter that collects rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, chinchillas and other small mammals that have been abandoned, provides them with medical care and a good adoption.
María Pérez, from the + Cotas program on TVE, has visited the shelter of Victoria Fernández, a volunteer of the protector who houses guinea pigs and rabbits. For Victoria both are very special animals. He tells of guinea pigs that each one has its own character, that they know when they do something wrong and there are even some that give affectionate nibbles.
He feels a real weakness for rabbits and there are many references to them in his home: decorative objects, stuffed animals, his own shirt…. Asked about their care, she affirms that the most important thing is to provide them with a good diet based on hay and a daily portion of fresh vegetables. He says they are usually pretty clean when sterilized.
Eva Blasco, vice president of La Madriguera, defends that rabbits should be free at home and not in cages . Also that it is preferable to have more than one copy.
