Anyone who has surfed the internet and visited social media for more than a year knows that the answer will likely include a dog or a cat. And so it is. On July 16, 2010, Instagram founder Kevin Systrom uploaded the service's first photo : a snapshot of a golden retriever staring at the camera.
Systrom took the photo while waiting for his food at a California street vendor . Back then, the app was still not known as Instagram. Its creators, waiting to find a definitive name, had called it Codename (code name) .
Over time, the photo has received more than 49,700 “likes” and almost 30,000 comments . The second and third photos of the service were taken moments later. Systrom immortalized the food stand and his partner. The rest is known history. Instagram was sold two years later to Facebook for almost $ 1 billion and today it has more than 400 million users, of which eight million are Spanish . Every day no less than 80 million photos and videos are uploaded to this thriving social network.
