At Nebra, a woman is said to be photographed in an enclosure where leopards are kept. But she is bitten and badly injured in the head. The exact circumstances of the incident are still unclear.
Halle / Nebra – During a photo shoot in a leopard enclosure, a woman in Saxony-Anhalt was bitten by the animal and seriously injured. The 36-year-old woman from Thuringia was brought to a special clinic by rescue helicopter with severe head injuries, according to the police.
The Burgenland district had already announced on Tuesday evening that a person was said to have been injured in an “incident” with a leopard. At this point in time, no information was available about the exact course and severity of the injuries.
As the police said in the meantime, the woman was to be photographed with the leopard on Tuesday afternoon in a so-called “senior citizens’ residence for wild animals” on an area near Nebra (Burgenlandkreis).
How the leopard attacked the woman, who was probably a stranger to the animal, is still unclear, said the police spokesman. The person responsible for the wild animal is being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. It was also initially unclear who organized the photo shoot. dpa
