18 (weighty) reasons to sleep naked

After a long day, many of us head to our bedroom, put on our pajamas, and crawl into bed ready to get as much sleep as possible. But what if we didn’t put on our pajamas? What if we took off our clothes and went to bed as naked as the day we were born? Today we review some of the benefits of sleeping like this.

Scientific evidence is present and claims that people who sleep naked definitely wake up to a healthier and happier life. They are more lucid dreamers and get the most REM sleep than those who sleep in pajamas or any other garment, which in turn leads to more breaks and health benefits that occur during the time we spend in the Dreamland.

On a more practical level, those who sleep naked know how to better regulate their body temperature. We live in an unnatural world of air conditioning and artificial heat using stoves or heating; those who sleep naked do so in the most restorative state.

And it is that the night must be dark and cold (without harboring horrors) for the release of melatonin, which causes a cooling in the body, necessary for broader bodily processes to take place.

In fact, according to several studies, body temperature is an important factor for people with insomnia. In an experiment conducted by Dutch researchers, people with slightly cooler body temperatures sleep better throughout the night, waking up less than those with higher body temperatures even if the difference is just 1ºC.

You will never wake up on the “wrong side of the bed”

Waking up on the ‘wrong side of the bed’ is not due to the position we take when sleeping throughout the night, but to sleep patterns. Those who never reach that deep level of unconscious sleep, known as REM sleep, will feel mentally and physically worse than those who sleep like babies.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, we only spend 25% of our time in REM sleep (and that is the most important phase of sleep). It occurs every 90 minutes, starting after the first 90 minutes after falling asleep. We fall into REM cycles for longer throughout the night as we go deeper into sleep. Until we finally woke up.

Hence, there is a compelling reason for us to tell you the benefits of sleeping naked. Prepared?
