It is no secret that both people and animals love to sleep. But there are specimens in the world that make sleep and rest their way of life . On this World Animal Day, we are going to talk about those laziest animals on the planet, those that close their eyes and never think about waking up because they make sleeping an art.
The koala
The koala, originally from Australia, does not have an intense and emotional life. On the contrary, these endearing animals that make everyone smile are characterized by sleeping more than 20 hours a day, excluding the hibernation period. Their preferred way is to sleep in the trees, mainly in eucalyptus, since they almost never abandon them.
They don’t usually drink a lot of water, and the hours they don’t spend sleeping they use to feed on eucalyptus leaves and other plants.
Sloth
Very much in the vein of the koala, sloths live up to their name perfectly. Known for its usual slowness, it sleeps in trees for about 20 hours a day, and it is normal to find them with their eyes closed.
Despite being so slow and sleeping so much, the sloth has survived other species for more than 60 million years thanks to its stealth as it moves through the trees . When it comes to walking, they also do it quietly, traveling at most five kilometers a day.
Oso panda
Like few others, the panda is another of the laziest animals on the planet. It is estimated that these characteristic Asian specimens sleep between 10 and 12 hours a day, and only change their sleep routine when they have to get up to eat bamboo.
Red panda
Although it looks like a large and usually active animal, the red panda is one of the laziest on the planet. It is usually in the trees without moving, and most of the time, asleep. He only gets up to eat and usually does it at night, and not for long.
Lion
Oddly enough, the king of the jungle, the lion, is one of the laziest animals in the world. Lions spend most of their time lying down, asleep, or just resting. They do this to have strength for the hunting time where they use all their energy so that none of their prey escapes them.
