Although we are the most advanced species in evolution and we like to think that we are special, it is inevitable that we will resemble some animals. In fact, we have too much in common with other species. Monkeys are able to count (just as we do) and birds are able to build nests using tools. Yes, we have many similarities with animals, even with the most distant relatives.
Did you know that the ear of grasshoppers is arranged in a very similar way to human ears? According to a study in the journal Science, the ear of grasshoppers is made up of eardrums, lever systems to amplify vibrations and a fluid-filled vesicle where sensory cells wait to transmit information to the nervous system. It is true that their ears are a bit simpler, but they can hear above the human range.
Similarly, some elephants are capable of understanding human language. They can even learn to imitate our own sounds. Koshik, an elephant at the Everland Zoo (South Korea) has learned to use his trunk and throat to imitate human words. Thus, the elephant knows how to say 'hello', 'sit' and 'lie down' among other words. However, the researchers believe that you do not know what these words mean.
