Life and curiosities of cheetahs – The cheetah, the fastest

Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world. Black panthers are the quintessential nocturnal hunters. Lions are considered the kings of the animal kingdom. And the cheetah, what is so special about this animal?

It is known as a cheetah and, among the big cats, it is the smallest and the fastest. Due to the color of their fur, their confusion with the leopard is quite frequent, although they present totally different physical characteristics. This species is characterized by tiny spots and a small, round head, with two large lines descending from its eyes.

The cheetah was on the verge of disappearing naturally about 10,000 years ago . And, although he is an excellent hunter, he had a time of great difficulty defending the prey on which he fed, as well as protecting his own young from other predators.

Also, about 5,000 years ago, the cheetah was domesticated for a type of sport hunting . This practice was very frequent in countries such as India, Syria, Arabia, Palestine, the Maghreb and the Sahara.

The truth is that over the years, the cheetah has been changing and has given rise to a really fascinating species full of curiosities. For example, did you know that animals are very shy? And that some female cheetahs are known as 'super moms' for being able to raise all their cubs and also those of other mothers?
