It is destiny. Every game with an online section sees its network multiplayer light go out sooner or later. Capcom announced in January what it has carried out today: the closure of the Wii’s ‘Monster Hunter Tri’ servers.
A more than visible banner in that wasteland of hardcore gaming that the Wii catalog eventually became, ‘Monster Hunter Tri’ was long missing from store shelves. Not so on the shelves of the happy owners of a copy of the game, who have kept it all this time like gold on cloth . This is what this world has, that if there are no reissues involved, it turns our belongings into authentic collector’s jewels.
The natural step for this faithful community is now to populate the wild lands of Wii U and 3DS . Nintendo’s home console takes over with a solid online gaming model in Tri’s HD review that already sees thousands of enthusiastic gamers within itself. The 3DS option goes through the Wii U lan adapter if you want to play online or go to meet-ups to establish face-to-face alliances with other hunters. ‘Monster Hunter Tri’ is dead, long live ‘Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’.
