Nintendo Announces Disabling Some Wii Online Services (Updated)

Life is fading to the Wii , something normal and totally understandable at this point, but after hearing this news I couldn’t help but remember HAL in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ and his pleas when Bowman decides to go deep into its core to disconnect it. Nintendo has announced that a part of the Wii online services will be deactivated as of June 28 .

You can see the full list below:

  • Nintendo Channel
  • News Channel
  • Weather Channel
  • Channel Reviews
  • Channel Look at Me
  • The exchange of data with friends via WiiConnect24 (messages and Miis), as well as the exchange of data and messages in some games

None of these services will be available from June 28, not even if we can start them from the menu. The information has appeared on the Nintendo Australia page and also in the Japanese one and we do not know officially if these changes will be extended to all markets, but it is to be expected that this will be the case. In any case, we are waiting for Nintendo to confirm it for our territory. These measures are confirmed to affect Europe on the same day.
