It is funny how the Wii is saying goodbye to its more than successful track record. Vilified by traditional players for the first years of excessive casualization in its content, in the final stretch, however, it is dedicating itself to shutting its mouths based on great games of a genre as hardcore as RPG .
After a couple of enormously brilliant and demanding masterpieces such as ‘Xenoblade Chronicles’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ comes ‘The Last Story’ , an attractively designed role-playing game created by that dream team that is Mystwalker.
The good thing about all this is that, above all, they are so different games that, despite belonging to the same genre, it is impossible to feel saturated or fed up. On the contrary, they reinforce each other in an undeclared show of force that makes us forget the supposed crisis in the Japanese development industry.
‘The Last Story’ premieres on February 24 . If you can, get the great special edition, which is worth little more than the simple one (another good Nintendo habit in recent times). To keep you going, here is a new trailer for the game that reveals a dynamic battle system.
After the 24th it will be time to wait for ‘Pandora’s Tower’, which arrives on April 13th. It will be that the finishing touch of this lustrous last stage of the Nintendo desktop console. Just a year ago what I am going to say would have sounded paradoxical, but at this point it is obvious: The best JRPG is played on Wii .
