A pregnant woman, who did not want to wear a mask during childbirth or undergo CPR, forces the health workers to treat her with protective equipment

Health professionals from the Hospital La Fe in Valencia have had to attend the delivery of a woman dressed in personal protective equipment, after she refused to wear a mask and undergo a PCR .

According to the media, the pregnant woman appeared at the hospital with a lawyer to defend her right not to wear a mask, forcing doctors to treat her as a “suspected COVID-19 case” and act accordingly.

Forced to activate the security protocol against COVID

Since the woman not only refused to wear a mask during her delivery but also to undergo a PCR, the doctors were forced to activate the security protocol against COVID and treat her as a “suspected case”, in order to avoid risks between staff and other patients .

According to Onda Cero, the Ministry of Health has explained that “deniers cannot be forced to put on the mask inside the hospital, because health care must prevail over that obligation .”

For this reason, the health professionals had to attend to her dressed in individual protection equipment -both in the delivery room and during the days she remained in the hospital-, in addition to being isolated in a room for infectious patients.

For all this, the woman has ended up denouncing the hospital considering that she has been given degrading treatment, although this fact has not been confirmed by Health.

An irresponsibility that could have consequences

Leaving aside the logistical difficulties and other associated problems, refusing to have a CPA and to wear a mask to be treated at delivery is an irresponsibility that has been able to put everyone’s health at risk, including that of the baby himself.

Since the pandemic began, many pregnant women have complained that the mask makes it difficult for them to breathe at the time of delivery, in addition to preventing them from kissing their babies after delivery. But despite these discomforts, they have faced the moment with responsibility, respect and common sense, for the good of all.

For this reason, health professionals do not tire of insisting that it is very important that the woman wears a mask in the delivery room, even if the PCR has been negative, as it is the best way to protect the newborn, the mother herself and the mothers. people who are caring for them.

On the other hand, it should be remembered that today the use of masks in Spain is mandatory in closed spaces for public use or open to the public (and in open spaces when it is not possible to maintain a safe distance), and hospitals are. .
