Bald eagles are raptors from North America. In addition, since 1782 these birds are the national emblem of the United States. Although they are not bald, they are so named because their white feathered head contrasts with their dark brown body, making them appear bald from a distance.
These birds stand out for harassing smaller birds and stealing their prey, so they are not exactly very friendly. Its wings can measure more than two meters, however, its body is much smaller. In addition, they weigh around six kilograms.
The bald eagle is endemic to North America, so it is only possible to find it there. Most live in forests near rivers, lakes, reservoirs, swamps, or coasts. However, they can also be found near fish processing plants and landfills where they can easily find food.
On the other hand, eagles are carnivorous birds that feed mainly on fish. However, the eggs of other birds and some small animals such as rabbits, reptiles, amphibians or crabs are also eaten.
Another curious fact is that they build nests with sticks, grasses, moss, feathers and stems. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest bald eagle nest was found in Florida and measured more than twenty feet deep.
