It’s already James Bond, and now Daniel Craig is following suit. The 007 actor is named commander – on an honorary basis.
London – Just in time for the start of the new James Bond flick, 007 actor Daniel Craig (53) draws level with the film character. The Royal Navy has named the actor Commander, if only on account of his honor.
“Daniel Craig has been known as Commander Bond for 15 years,” said Navy Chief Tony Radakin on Thursday. “He is a naval officer who protects Great Britain on missions around the world.” The Royal Navy also fulfills this task every day “by using technology and skill like Bond,” said Radakin. Craig was honored. He wanted to stand up for the staff, especially for the families, said the actor.
The Royal Navy and the Department of Defense supported the film team in the shooting of the new Bond film “No Time to Die”, which will celebrate its world premiere in London on September 28th. The Navy warship “HMS Dragon” can be seen in a trailer. It was also filmed at the Brize Norton Air Force Base near Oxford.
Craig also met a real marine bond. “There are some strange similarities between what we do. I was fortunate enough to travel the world while serving in the Royal Navy, as the cast did with their locations, ”said Lieutenant Commander Frances Bond. “But I never thought that one day I would meet the actor who played him.” Dpa
