"Everything will be fine": midwives reassure mothers who will give birth in times of coronavirus

We are living exceptional days in which, although everything has changed a lot, babies are still being born. As is normal, pregnant women who leave accounts on these dates or will do so soon, feel worried about how their delivery will be in times of coronavirus.

The midwives of the Hospital Puerta del Mar in Cádiz want to send a message of reassurance to the women who are about to give birth, telling them that “Everything will be fine” and they ask them to stay home “if it is not urgent.”

“At Hospital Puerta del Mar we take care of you as always”, you can read on the posters that the professionals hold. “We protect you and your baby.” “Safe births.” “We will be with you at all times”, they point out, and ask pregnant women: “If it is not urgent, stay home”.

The video was made by the professionals of the Midwifery Teaching Unit of the Province of Cádiz and they intend to convey to parents that deliveries continue to take place almost normally and that despite the special situation due to the coronavirus, they will receive the same care at the time of delivery with all the security measures guaranteed.

In the last week, 54 births have been registered at the Jerez Hospital and an average of six daily births at Puerta de Mar. For now there has only been one case of a mother due to coronavirus, it was at the Jerez Hospital, and both the mother and the baby are fine.
