What is Monster Hunter? A brief introduction to Capcom’s star saga

Although for years it has been considered a niche action RPG in the West, the Monster Hunter saga has become the most relevant saga of the current Capcom. What’s more, the premiere of Monster Hunter Rise coincides with the arrival on the billboards of the blockbuster film based on its universe.

The first title in the Monster Hunter saga was released on PS2 in March 2004, offering the player the ability to traverse fantasy settings and hunt down creatures of all shapes and sizes, with the great wyverns being the top claim and the real challenge.

In Monster Hunter we are an expert hunter in all kinds of weapons. In fact, although all creatures can be killed with any type of weapon, it is highly recommended to adjust our equipment and arsenal to the type of prey. And like all good action RPGs, forges and equipment and attribute upgrades, tight dodges, and overconsumption of potions are essential.

In fairness, the true success of the saga came with its passage through portable systems, and that had its reason: the Monster Hunter hunting experience reaches its excellence in multiplayer , and the four-player games from PSP and later systems Nintendo hit very hard.

All in all, the great international success came on Xbox and PS4 through Monster Hunter World. The game, released in early 2018, fully embraced the action and reached an unprecedented playable and visual level. As a result, and to date, MH World has surpassed 16 million copies and is one of Capcom’s most successful games.

In the wake of Monster Hunter World , Capcom extends the fifth generation of games in the series through Monster Hunter Rise . Retaining most of the changes and, in the process, reinforcing the playable essence through a more ambitious, dynamic and spectacular gameplay, without this detracting from the identity of the series itself.

Since 2004, the Monster Hunter series has continued to introduce changes and improvements at all levels. From spectacular new great monsters and powerful creatures that have championed each installment to farming and multiplayer elements, passing through a leap to the RE Engine that feels great to the technical and visual experience.

Monster Hunter Rise: the evolution of action rpg

At this point the question asks itself: what difference is Monster Hunter Rise from the previous installments? What kind of experience will I find if I come from Monster Hunter Generetions Ultimate, the last great installment of the previous generation of the saga, or I am one of the millions of hunters in Monster Hunter World.

  • From the start, everything learned in each of the previous Monster Hunter titles, at least in the main saga, continues to shine with its own light in this new foray. Combat them with each big monster feels like real boss encounters, and exploration and material gathering still weigh heavily on the progression system.
  • As in Monster Hunter World, the scenarios are wide, open and even more vertical, so that there are no longer loading times when moving from one area to another and the chases or hunts are more dynamic. Something that, logically, also benefits multiplayer.
  • Monster Hunter Rise retains that touch of epic fantasy from the saga, but unlike the other titles its aesthetic is heavily inspired by feudal Japan. A feature that, as we will see, goes beyond the aesthetic and transcends the playable.
  • Thus, Capcom does not give up the feeling of playing with gigantic and heavy weapons. Some of them larger than the hero himself. And it does well. But, to balance the rhythm, in Rise new mechanics of aerial mobility and vertical movement techniques (running on walls) are introduced inspired by the ninjas; as well as new movements that evoke the impressive fighting techniques of samurai and fantasy cinema.
  • To this we must add a double bet on the mounts: we will be able to ride, explore and fight on the back of a new comrade (a companion controlled by the AI) with canine form and even, when the time comes, we will be allowed to tame and even fight mounted on colossal wyverns.
  • Finally, Frenzy has been introduced, a new game experience in which we must manage the defenses of a stage while resisting the incursion of severe waves of large monsters.

The set of content is complemented by what we can expect from any new main installment in the Monster Hunter series: new monsters, a new village, huge new biomes created for the occasion, and improved revisions of hunting areas from previous installments. All of the above being tied to the destiny and history of a village: the welcoming, exotic and brave Kamura.

The History of Monster Hunter Rise

Half a century ago, a tragedy struck Kamura . The small village near the Ruined Shrine was washed away by a great wave of monsters. The origin? A phenomenon that was called the Frenzy and that, according to legends, takes place approximately every 50 years. Worse, an extremely powerful fang wyvern, the Magnamalo, thrives on chaos and destruction. Redoubling the, already in itself, colossal threat.

The will of the people of Kamura is as strong as the legendary steel of their mountains that they forge so masterfully from their furnaces, and as soon as they rebuilt the foundations of the village they decided to take the initiative and prepare for the arrival of the next Frenzy.

Years have passed and Kamura thrives again. The richness of its natural environment coupled with superb local crafts and good commercial relations with the rest of the New World have led to the flourishing of an idyllic setting. And despite this, in the village they are fully aware that it is a matter of days before the Frenzy manifests itself again. And whether Kamura stands tall this time will depend on us.

In Monster Hunter Rise we are a hunter born and raised in the village of Kamura. The best hunter of our generation, the pride of the village and a true prodigy with all kinds of weapons. For years, we have combined the teachings of veterans with the hunting and gathering activities of our guild. And now that the Magnamalo returns, our true litmus test approaches.

Chordoptera, Rise’s Greatest Revolution

The most important novelty of Monster Hunter Rise compared to the previous installments comes from the chordoptera, insects that are trained in Kamura and that naturally generate a glowing filament that can be used both to move with great freedom and to execute powerful additional attacks with any of the 14 weapons that we will have at our disposal.

With the weapon sheathed, we can use the chordoptera to sprint in any direction, swing or hang in the air and even start a brief tour of the walls. Even react if we are projected after an attack.

On Nintendo Switch, the key button to use the chordoptera system is the ZL (the left trigger) of the Joy Cons and the Switch Pro controller.

  • With “X” we will make a vertical cordosprint. An almost instantaneous lifting technique.
  • With “A” we will make a cordosprint in front , crossing a generous distance in record time.
  • With “ZR” (the right trigger) we can freely point where we want to go.

If we aim at a wall or a vertical surface we will be able to do a short running route in exchange for the stamina bar (below the health one). In addition, we will be able to execute a second impulse.

Under normal circumstances, in Monster Hunter Rise we will have two chordoptera. Both are marked in the lower area of the screen and each time we use one of them we will have to wait a margin of time until it is operational again . However, during the hunt we can add a third chordopter or reduce waiting times.

Chordoptera add a new layer of depth to game mobility. Hunters no longer feel so heavy , the chases are more dynamic, accessing high places is infinitely easier, and the intensity of the fighting reaches a new level. Especially when these insects guarantee new attacks for each Monster Hunter weapon.

Depending on the type of weapon we can benefit from different techniques, counterattacks and additional advantages at the cost of a chordopter. To which must be added the cordocaidas, a new system of rejoining the battle that will prevent us from being killed.

Last but not least, we have the Wyvern mounts : if we make a succession of attacks in jump of chordopter or we get close enough when two or more large monsters collide, we can get on their back and take control of one of them during a period of time.

The wyvern mount system will allow us to attack, dodge and even gallop on any large monster , including the Magnamalo. We can force them to crash against a surface and generate enormous damage or use them to attack other large and small creatures.

Each wyvern has its own attacks and unique movement capabilities. In addition, if we cause enough damage, we can use a mounted Avenger , something like the ultimate attack of each creature. With enough dexterity we will see the ground full of materials, monster remains and forge pieces.

Comrades: the Felynes and the Canynes

As soon as we start our new game, just when we finish giving the final aesthetic touches to our hunter from the character editor, we will be given the possibility of meeting our partners and fellow adventurers: the Comrades . Assistants who will accompany us on each mission, fighting alongside us and supporting us through their unique abilities.

We will be able to accept orders together with two comrades and, in this regard, MH Rise receives an interesting novelty with four legs:

  • We already knew the cheeky Felyne from previous installments. Little cat hunters who will use weapons and different objects to help us in our missions, with the additional advantage that they are constantly collecting materials.
  • And, for the first time in the saga, the Canyne comrades, which in addition to taking sides in battles we can use as a mount. And not only that: riding on them we can use objects, sharpen our weapons, make small attacks or climb at high speed.

Each comrade has its own advantages, and if the Felynes are more versatile in terms of abilities, the Canynes greatly increase the pace of the game. To the point where they have come to the Monster Hunter saga to stay.

Comrades level up with each mission, and like our hunter, they have their own forges and weapon and gear upgrades. In addition, we will be able to recruit new felyne and canyne comrades in Kamura and send them on missions, collections and training while we continue with our game.

The Frenzy, the chaotic invasion of monsters

The peace and prosperity of Kamura contrasts with the rampant chaos of the Frenzy , the phenomenon that intensifies the violent nature of the surrounding large monsters and causes them to charge at the village. However, this time the inhabitants are prepared for the worst.

In addition to the village missions, the guild assignments and the expeditions that we can do, in Monster Hunter Rise a new class of challenges has been added: the Frenzy missions. Broadly speaking, through them the hunter must deploy the defenses of the walls of Kamura and take the initiative to contain several waves of powerful creatures.

Of course, the Frenzy missions will not be a typical Tower Defense , but an extension of the Monster Hunter game proposal in which the most dangerous monsters in the game are condensed in the same space. Of course, despite the fact that they will continue to be especially fighters, it takes much less time to kill them than in the rest of the missions of the game.

Partly because our weapons will deal much more damage and there will be more opportunities to make wyvern mounts. But also because we will have unique resources to prevent creatures from crossing the walls of Kamura.

  • On the one hand, we will be able to deploy three types of facilities (manned, automatic and limited-use) along the different defense posts spread over the walls and the ground.
  • In addition, we will be able to use attack flares, folding traps and other powerful resources with which to stop and reduce the greatest threats.
  • Finally, as the Frenzy evolves and we meet objectives, we will be able to increase our strength level , which will give us access to better defense facilities and resources.

The interesting thing about Frenzy is that through it we can get resources, parts and essential materials for several of the most powerful weapons and armor. And, at the same time, introduce Frenzy improvements to our weapons that boost their damage, their affinity, their resistance and other attributes.

The main thing: what should I do before going hunting

With the essentials about the game ahead, it is time to dive into the gaming experience. And, as we will see, the success of a game begins to forge even before reaching the hunting area.

To start with, it is necessary to make a double distinction between the type of Monster Hunter missions:

  • From the missions post we will have access to the experience for a player. The village missions are the equivalent of the main story, but we can also access expeditions, frenzy missions and training.
  • From the hunters guild the doors to multiplayer open. We can also tackle the same missions alone and offline, although the Monster Hunter experience earns full points. In this regard, the difficulty – and the degree of challenge – is much greater.

Once we are clear about the type of experience we want to tackle, the first thing to do is review the second page of the mission sheet. In it we will find essential data such as the map, the objective and what monsters and conditions we will have ahead.

Only on the basis of these, and once the mission has started, we will proceed to prepare specifically for the objective. In other words:

  • We will review the file of the Monster to be killed from our bestiary to check its weaknesses and weaknesses. In case of not having a token (it is obtained when hunting it for the first time) the mission and the loading screen will give us clues about what we are facing.
  • From there, we will select the most advantageous type of armor, upgrades and weapons. Some armor offers resistance to certain elements and the weapon of our choice must be effective against the type of mobility and armor of each creature.
  • In the same way in which we prepare our hunter’s equipment, we must prepare our comrades. In multiplayer we can only carry one, while in single player we can carry two.
  • Once we have the chosen armor and weapons, we will go to the trunk to prepare the utensils that we will need. Traps, medicines, barrels or ammunition. It is worth reviewing how we have configured the automatic creation of objects.
  • Finally, if it is a powerful enemy, it is best to stop by the meeting room or the restaurant at the entrance and enjoy a dango , a typical dish that also gives us three advantages during the hunt. .

Although it might seem a cumbersome process, in Monster Hunter Rise we have the option to create and save dozens of equipment for our hunter and our comrades. It is a matter of time before we opt for this and if we go with a fixed shot we will only have to go through the trunk and have a feast before leaving the village.

23 various tips and tricks for Monster Hunter Rise

It does not matter if you are seasoned in the Monster Hunter saga or you arrive new, these 23 tips and tricks are going to be great for you to end that monster that is resisting you or defend Kamura from his destiny.

Head over to the training room and perfect your play style

From the game menu, through the hunter’s guide, we can check the combos sequences of each weapon at all times, as well as the mobility techniques. However, it is in the training room where we can dominate the game.

In addition to offering a large vertical room with which to control the mobility of the chordopter, the combos are shown to us on the screen, we will have a doll with which to experiment with combos, we will be informed of the damage and we even have a wall with mobile targets.

To access the training room, we must go to the Plaza Camarada (east of Kamura) and enter the small boat to the left of the Argosy. However, it is possible to go to it directly from the game map.

Adjust the control system and menus to your liking and without fear

It is possible that you really like a weapon but you are not comfortable with how to use it. The solution? Just adjust the buttons and arrange them to your liking . You may be more interested in cutting with the triggers.

In fact, the same applies to shortcuts and content displayed in horizontal menus. You can even hide those that you never use. If you only play Monster Hunter Rise multiplayer locally, why have chat options in the middle?

Have a flexible routine between missions

Monster Hunter’s action RPG style favors us having a series of fixed routines between mission and mission. The same thing is that each player finds the one that best suits their progress, of course, but there are aspects that are worth highlighting.

Some universal suggestions that we can give you are:

  • With each mission accomplished, upgrade your optional missions . You can have five active while you have played and they are easily completed.
  • Replace the consumable items you use the most . From traps, to potions or the most effective types of ammunition. You can create them with the materials you already have or purchase them.
  • Check the progress of the Comrade Dojo and the Meowucenaries . Maybe it’s time to send your little friends on new adventures.
  • Check out the Argosy’s selection of special items. You can find really interesting merchandise.
  • Check out the weapon upgrade trees. Probably that missing piece to increase the damage and rarity of your favorite weapon will help you choose your next mission.

These are ideas that work in any situation. When you unlock the maxi melter you can also enter to do experiments with it from the store. However, the essential thing is that you accommodate a routine at your rate of progress.

Do you need to change weapons while hunting? Stop by the tent

An essential tip that it never hurts to remember. Perhaps you have gotten too excited about getting a new weapon or you wanted to experiment and you are not having good results in your hunt. In any case, you will not have to abandon the mission to change weapons.

In all hunting areas, near the starting area and in each camp, you will see a tent. When you enter it you will have access to your trunk, all your equipment and your complete arsenal. You can even change the equipment of your comrades. If you are downed too quickly, change your strategy.

Get new comrades, alternate the ones you already have

When starting a new game of Monster Hunter Rise , we will be joined by a felyne comrade and a canyne comrade to whom we ourselves will give color, details and names. However, throughout the game we can recruit lots of them.

From the Plaza Comrade we can hire new comrades , both felyne and canyne. The starting level will determine the price, but we can change the name and appearance later.

The interesting thing is that we can send comrades that we are not using to carry out orders for the village and raise their levels automatically through the Dojo. It is more interesting to us to alternate between them.

Each comrade has a series of attributes that we can customize and we can equip them with different weapons and equipment. So, in the long run, it is easier to change comrades than to change all the equipment that we carry with us.

In fact, our comrades will not continue to level up at level 20, so it is more advisable to advance the new ones and reserve the tanned ones for the more delicate missions.

The Miaucenaries: Your Own Material Harvesting Squad

Continuing with the Comrades, those that you do not use and are not training you can use in Meowucenary missions . In essence, we choose a scenario, a series of objectives, and once we have completed several missions, they will return with valuable items, resources and materials.

The interesting thing here are two things. On the one hand, we will not need our comrades to have returned to obtain the materials for their missions. Additionally, some in-game items can only be obtained through Meowucenaries. In any case, it is very convenient to integrate these missions into our routines.

Use your canyne to your advantage when using items

Traditionally, in Monster Hunter we tend to be helpless when it comes to using objects during missions. Consuming potions or rations will leave us drastically exposed, and the same applies to sharpening our weapons. In Monster Hunter Rise there is an alternative: do it on the back of the canynes.

In addition to allowing us to climb and move at high speed, we can use almost all objects while we move. And not only that, during the confrontations against the great wyverns we can heal ourselves while avoiding their initiatives and without losing sight of them. Great advantages that make the difference.

In addition to the above, if we combine the jump of the canyne with the chordoptera we will be able to cross a huge space and cross great distances giving an additional jump. Something like Yoshi in Super Mario World, with the advantage that they will appear right away with us.

Last but not least, thanks to the canyne we will be able to carry out monster chases or get closer without spending our hunter’s resistance bar . We won’t have to catch our breath to start the attack.

Keep this in mind: there is no fall damage in Monster Hunter

It doesn’t matter how high the fall is. It doesn’t matter whether you’re riding a canyne or running out of chordoptera between two mountains: Monster Hunter Rise offers very vertical scenarios and there’s no fall damage. Dare to do crazy jumps and if you fall, come back with a couple of cordoesprints.

Make the most of menu shortcuts

At first, the norm in Monster Hunter Rise will be to go through your inventory through the button controls. Over time, the shortcut menu will be your third comrade in the game.

Using the “L” button on the Nintendo Switch and the corresponding stick you can access four wheels of inventory items , communication options and other resources. And best of all, these shortcuts are fully customizable from the game menu.

In other words. Don’t waste time looking for that potion or the trap from the menu: set what you use the most in the shortcuts and focus on combat.

Configure automatic object creation

The creation of objects is part of the essence of Monster Hunter. From potions to incenses, through ammunition, antidotes and traps. And the best thing is that with the appropriate settings they will create themselves as we collect the materials.

Set a priority. If you use crossbows, the most normal thing is that you are interested in having ammunition constantly, with which you study well what to create automatically.

Logically, the point will come where we will have to be selective with the materials we collect. However, during the first games collect everything you see on the screen. Until filling the pockets.

Look behind that tree: the owl’s nest!

A very interesting tip: if we go to the Plaza del Camarada stands out, at the end of it, a huge tree with a kind of small temple in it. In that tree we can find really interesting materials.

If we go around the trunk we will see that it is possible to climb to the top. And the best of all is that the owls’ nest awaits us at the top, where we can find practically any type of resource. Whenever you can, stop by.

Reduce your walks to a minimum in the Village

Are you just in time or do you want to chain one mission with the next? Reduce the number of walks around the village by accessing the forge, inventory, and comrade management functions from your home or the upper room of the guild hall. As simple as it sounds.

In addition, through the map you can instantly transport yourself to any place in Kamura. Put it in the quick action bar, check if someone has something new and travel easily and without detours.

What is this about dango and how do they work?

While in Monster Hunter Rise we are not going to have those succulent Monster Hunter World feasts, Capcom has introduced a new dish that adds interesting layers of depth to each mission: the dango.

In essence, it is about chopsticks with three types of flavor. They are served in the guild saga and the small restaurant next to the shape and each flavor grants or accentuates a specific skill. The further we go through the missions, the more flavors we have to combine.

The effect of the dango depends on each recipe and equipment and will be applied to the next mission we enter. In this aspect, it is better to choose the mission first and, based on this, choose the type of dango that we will ask for.

Get in the habit of ordering one before every tricky mission . Fearlessly combine the flavors and save those that best suit your team and your style of play. And in the process, have fun with the cutscenes during the prep process.

Get the most out of the hunting area map

In addition to the minimap that we will see on the screen, through the horizontal menu and the game settings we can access the map of each hunting area. However, here are a couple of interesting insights.

  • From there we can make quick trips to the camp . Something very beneficial to replenish inventory from the store or change weapons.
  • In addition, we can adjust with the zoom to better focus on the level of detail. Something more than interesting if we are carrying out a collection of materials or looking for small monsters.
  • Finally, we can adjust the information that is shown to us on the screen. From collection resources to native fauna. We can even choose to simply see the shape of the terrain.

Hunt or Capture? How to shrink a big monster

Usually in Monster Hunter Rise we will be asked to take down a certain beast. Sometimes more than one. However, removing them will not always be the best option. As much as possible, our priority should be to capture them.

Hunting a beast is not too much of a mystery . It is enough to exhaust its health until it is struck down permanently. Capturing it is a more delicate process, but in return we will get more and better materials from it.

The process for a capture does not have much mystery, but that does not mean that it is easy: we will have to reduce the health of the beast until it is tired. We will know it because we will be informed on the screen and we will see how its icon on the map flashes and under its image we will see a special mark.

From there, we will have to have a trap and several tranquilizing objects such as sleeping bombs. When the already tired monster is completely immobilized and unconscious, we will have captured it.

Prepare your attack and deploy your traps

Before starting an attack, it is always advisable to prepare the ground. Prepare traps, have light bombs or place explosive elements. Many of the monsters may be unpredictable by nature, but we can guarantee a massive amount of damage right out of the box.

On the other hand, it is convenient for us to accommodate hunting to our needs. It is not only about being on an advantageous terrain, but about removing the monster from its natural environment. Some fight better in water and others in mud. Make it difficult for him.

Make the big monsters fight each other

Throughout Monster Hunter Rise you will get very powerful weapons, but if you want to witness devastating attacks against your target, your best weapon will be the rest of the great monsters.

As a general rule, when two great beasts coincide in the same area, what is called a territory dispute begins. Sometimes, we will have to contribute to that happening by guiding one of them or by enraging them. In any case, they will end up doing a lot of damage and dropping precious materials.

Last but not least, it is very common that when two large monsters collide, a wyvern mount can be performed. In that case, it will be enough to get closer and we can take control of one of the two beasts and their attacks. A simple way to drastically reduce the health of our target.

The hunter’s guide, your ace up your sleeve

Before starting a mission, get in the habit of consulting the hunter’s guide. Once a monster has been downed, you will find helpful information in the game’s bestiary, including:

  • The weakest and most reinforced areas of your body.
  • Their weaknesses in the face of certain elements and effects.
  • Their customs and attacks.
  • The percentage with which they drop materials according to the rank of the mission.

We must take these aspects into account when choosing a weapon and combat style. But also when looking for materials with which to improve our team and that of our comrades.

How to unlock all submarines on the Argosy

In Kamura’s comrades plaza we will find a curious connection with the New World and other areas of the saga: the Argosy. A boat that will offer us exchanges, exotic objects and the possibility of negotiating with distant merchants through one of our comrades.

The funny thing here is that originally we can only send a comrade, although -like almost everything in Monster Hunter Rise- there is a system of improvements with which we can send several more submarines to speculate beyond kamura.

The process, basically, is based on fulfilling the orders proposed by Rondine , the Argosy merchant. As we progress and deliver the materials, we will unlock more submarines and, in the process, increase the amount of materials that we will receive after each mission.

The photography system: doom

We close our batch of tips and tricks with a very interesting tool: the camera . Through the horizontal menu of the game we will be able to take pictures of kamura, the hunting areas, its fauna, its flora and the protagonists of the game.

Once we have unlocked the bubo, the winged comrade of the game, we can take photos in which our hunter and his friends felyne and canyne also appear. And not only that: we will also have access to tons of gestures ranging from kawai to heroic. Including muscular poses.

The photos are also saved on the reel of the console and throughout the game we will receive requests for monsters, insects and plants from kamura’s neighbors.

And that is not the best in addition to being able to use the photos in our hunter card, for multiplayer games: we can illustrate the hunter’s guide with the images that we make of each creature and plant. Quite a detail.

Tips for the Frenzy: how to survive the threat of Kamura

As we discussed, Frenzy is one of the new experiences in the game. Instead of exploring vast natural areas, we must fortify and improve the outer walls of Kamura while resisting the attack of waves of monsters. Crazy.

Precisely for this reason, we have prepared a series of tips that will increase your chances of success:

  • As soon as you enter the combat zone, locate the arrows on the ground. These will signal the entry of the waves and should be your first priority when deploying combat facilities.
  • Pay attention to the number of installations already deployed before placing a new one. Position the artillery in the high areas and the explosives in the low. Except for baits, use heroes (limited in nature) only if necessary on higher difficulty levels.
  • Give priority to subtasks. Targets marked in the left area of the screen. These will improve your score and make it easier for you to level up the fortress.
  • Use the big traps only when you see that you can do a lot of damage . Using them at the wrong time, just because they can be activated, can cost you more than one displeasure.
  • Cause monster collisions and force Wyverns mounts – the most brutal way to take part in battles and sweep through monster-saturated areas.
  • Collect all the Fenesi materials that you see on the ground. Do not miss any and do a double review at the end of each wave. Not only are they valuable, but only during these battles is it possible to obtain certain pieces to create weapons and armor.

Finally, it is worth remembering that, unlike other missions, during the Frenzy we can be killed in an unlimited way. However, the time we are out of the combat zone can be expensive.

How to beat the Magnamalo (and any great monster)

The Magnamalo is Monster Hunter Rise’s flagship monster, and it’s a brown beast. Its size is enormous, its attack capacity is inordinate and its Hellfire will put us on the ropes several times. But, like all monsters, it also has its own weak points.

  • As we discussed above, before facing the Magnamalo it is convenient to review its hunter file . It is through it that we can draw interesting conclusions.
  • The first thing is that thanks to the deodorant we will eliminate the mark of Hell Fire. Fill your pockets before you go hunting. We can also turn it off using cordoesprints.
  • The second thing is that the Magnamalo is weak to water attacks and takes extra damage in those points of its body that emit fire. You know where and what to hit with.
  • The third thing is a bit more complicated: learn their attack routines. Usually the Magnamalo will perform a series of twisted gestures before using his big special attacks. If you recognize them, you can anticipate their fury.
  • As we discussed above, look for the Magnamalo to take on other large monsters to weaken it or provoke a wyvern mount. In addition, you will get invaluable material.

Finally, it is worth remembering that the Magnamalo is a huge beast, but it is among the most powerful. At a quantifiable level, according to the hunter’s guide, his level of danger is rated at 7 out of 10 . And he’s not the only monster in the game with that score.

These same tips can be tailored to virtually any Monster Hunter Rise creature, small or large. Complete the hunter’s guide, arrange your equipment and weapons to each great monster and you will have half the hunt won.

How to obtain the Sword of Fugen the Elder

No matter what your favorite weapon is: the long sword of Fugen , the ancient hunter of kamura, is a true marvel with a capacity of spectacular damage. And the best thing is that we can get her in the game.

The process, broadly speaking, consists of reaching the village’s rank five mission level . Basically, it is about following the story of the game and, once we have completed the minimum number of missions of rank four, we will be challenged to defeat the Magnamalo.

It is interesting to remember that the village missions are designed for a single player, so the only help we will have will be that of our cliques. Of course, once the fearsome fanged wyvern has been knocked down, we will be received in the village with honors and Fugen will give us his enormous sword.

Like all the weapons in Monster Hunter Rise, we can continue to improve the attributes of Fugen’s sword, although for this we must continue to carry out missions, obtain more materials and face creatures equal to or more powerful than the Magnamalo.

Round of frequently asked questions and concrete answers

We complete our guide with a round of questions more than coming around Monster Hunter Rise.

How long does Monster Hunter Rise last?

Although it is possible to see the credit titles in 30 or 40 hours, or less, deviating just enough, in the end everything is reduced to the skill of each player when adapting to the monsters, how much we deviate at the time to solve the main missions through secondary objectives and the time we dedicate to perfect our weapons, our tools and our comrades.

That said, once the credits are shown, the real game kicks off with tons more missions, many more monsters, and even bigger challenges. To be said in some way: at the end of the story begins the true experience and the inexhaustible supply of hours.

How many weapons are in Monster Hunter Rise?

Being specific, in Monster Hunter Rise we will have access to 14 types of weapons . Each with its own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses.
