Newspapers: The Queen drives alone

Most recently, the British were concerned about the health of their monarch. But Queen Elizabeth seems to be doing just fine.

Windsor – The Queen seems to be doing better: The British newspapers “The Sun” and “Daily Mirror” published photos of Queen Elizabeth II while driving a car on Monday – the 95-year-old was behind the wheel of the green Jaguar herself.

It was said that she made a tour of the grounds of her residence, Windsor Castle, near London. The monarch was seen wearing a headscarf and sunglasses. Apparently the Queen was sitting alone in the car.

Doctors had only recently ordered the head of state to rest for two weeks without traveling and only allowed light work at the desk. “The pictures will undoubtedly reassure Royal fans who are concerned about their health,” commented the “Sun” on the three published photos of the Queen. As the “Mirror” wrote, it was the first time since a night in the hospital around ten days ago that the Queen was seen outdoors.

Elizabeth II’s health had recently become an increasingly important issue in Great Britain. First, the 95-year-old was seen with a walking stick for the first time for non-acute medical reasons. Then she canceled a visit to Northern Ireland and ended up spending one night in the clinic.

What exactly is missing from the queen is not known. The “Sun” quoted unnamed sources according to which the Queen was “exhausted” due to her busy schedule and late-night television viewing. She has attended 120 official appointments in the 194 days since the death of her husband Prince Philip in April, the paper continues. dpa
