Nintendo announces cessation of Wii production

Nintendo has announced from its Japanese page that it will no longer manufacture Wii units. The cessation of its production puts an end to the brand’s best-selling desktop console , surpassed only in numbers by the Nintendo DS and Game Boy laptops.

More than 100 million Nintendo Wii sold support the good result of the console, which won over the public with a strategy in which all kinds of people could approach, take a controller and start playing. However, the feeling left among the fans of the brand has not been as high as that of the rest of the players.

The growth of the market share of the machine experienced its greatest growth during the first, the hardest of a console, and with the passage of time it learned to give us jewels such as ‘Super Mario Galaxy 2’, ‘MadWorld’ or ‘Xenoblade Chronicles’. Authentic games that have little or nothing to envy compared to other catalogs.

It has been hard to watch the years go by and the flow of high-quality games was not adequate, but it seems that the planning problem that has also dragged the brand to the beginning of Wii U , is beginning to show signs of improvement. We may believe that the Wii is not one of the star consoles that we have had in our hands, but the revolution that it proposed and the numbers achieved make it very clear that it has been more important than some players will like to admit.
