Last week Sony announced a new model of its PS4 Pro on the occasion of the 500 million consoles sold that had reached the sum of all the consoles in the PlayStation family, from the first 32-bit to the current PS4. Nintendo has not wanted to be less and has also wanted to boast of numbers offering exactly the same data with all its consoles.
Therefore, if we add the millions of units that have been acquired from the publication of the NES in 1983 to the Nintendo Switch , the figure rises to 700 million consoles . This amount includes the different models of each of them, the packs that have been distributed and, of course, portable consoles are also included.
To date, the most demanded of all has been Nintendo DS with more than 154 million, followed in second place by Game Boy with 118 million and Wii with 101 million. If we only looked at the desktop consoles, among all of them they almost exceed 300 million and this has been the result that each one has obtained:
- NES – 61.91
- SNES – 49.10
- Nintendo 64 – 32.93
- GameCube – 21.74
- Wii – 101.63
- Wii U – 13.56
- Nintendo Switch – 19.67
As for portable consoles, the total amounts specifically to 427 million and is distributed as follows:
- Game Boy – 118.69
- Game Boy Advance – 81.51
- Nintendo DS – 154.02
- Nintendo 3DS – 72.89
The only thing that does not specify the official Nintendo website where all these data appear are the sales obtained by the NES and SNES Mini, as well as the Virtual Boy or the Game & Watch machines, since otherwise the total it would have been quite superior. How long will it take to reach 1 billion?
- Nintendo Switch touches 20 million units with Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe exceeding 10 million
