Insomniacs are much more punctual than those who sleep soundly every night. This is the conclusion reached by German and British scientists after conducting an experiment with more than 600 patients from the sleep laboratory at the University of Freiburg (Germany). Specifically, the data reveals that insomniacs arrive 4 minutes earlier for appointments than people who sleep well. According to the researchers, "it is an obsessive punctuality indicative of a perfectionist personality that could be one of the causes of the sleep disorder." Or maybe it's the other way around: it may be insomnia that causes excess perfectionism.
In any case, the authors of the study, which is published in the Journal of Sleep Research , suggest that it should be verified whether psychotherapy to reduce obsessive behavior could help combat insomnia, even if that means that patients begin to arrive minutes later to your appointments.
