Philips sues Nintendo and asks to block sales of Wii and Wii U in the United States

It is not the first time that Nintendo has been denounced for infringing patents, but this time the company is Philips and its ultimate goal is for Nintendo to withdraw both its latest home consoles and controllers from the market. At least in the North American market, since if we see the demand we always refer to Nintendo’s activities in the United States.

Philips claims that Nintendo has copied two of its patents . In fact it seems that in 2011 Philips informed Nintendo about the infringement of the first of the patents and now it is going for the second. On the one hand we have the patent on a movement-based control system , while the other has to do with an entry system that makes use of a pointing device . All of that is just what Wii and Wii U controllers do.

The Dutch company seeks compensation for damages, as well as the blocking of sales of the aforementioned consoles in the United States , and in principle this must be resolved in a trial where a jury must decide.
