He loved cars, sailing, painting and cooking shows. Prince Philip also enjoyed being the man at the grill.
London – Prince Philip, who died in April at the age of 99, was a huge fan of cooking shows, according to his family. “He loved watching cooking shows,” said Countess Sophie, wife of the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, on a BBC program.
“Hairy Bikers”, a longstanding British cooking show with a popular duo of presenters, was one of his favorites. She loved talking to her father-in-law about cooking, said the 56-year-old.
Grandson William also praised his grandfather’s culinary skills – especially at the grill. “I can safely say that there has never been a case of food poisoning related to the Duke of Edinburgh in this family,” said the 39-year-old.
Prince Harry and many other members of the royal family also have their say in the one-hour program “Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers” (German: “Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers”). Harry praised his grandfather as a great listener to whom everything could be told.
The program, for which Queen Elizabeth II is said to have granted access to her private film collection, will be broadcast on the BBC on September 22nd. dpa
