A father spends the night with his daughter on their leisure boat. A fire suddenly breaks out early in the morning. The father can save himself, but help comes too late for his daughter.
Wiesbaden – A seven-year-old girl died in a motorboat fire on Sunday morning in the Rhine port of Wiesbaden-Schierstein. “The fire brigade could only get it dead from inside the boat,” said a police spokesman.
The burning leisure boat swam further away from the jetties in the harbor. “The 39-year-old father from Wiesbaden could be saved,” added the spokesman. According to the police, both had stayed on the small yacht. The father was no longer able to “save the child before he jumped into the water himself”. The man came to a hospital. The fire brigade extinguished the flames. “The cause of the fire is still unclear. The investigation is ongoing,” the police spokesman said. dpa
