She has two babies, but they are not twins: she becomes pregnant a month after her mother began carrying her first baby

In Babies and More we have shared incredible stories of surrogacy, among which are those in which, in an act of love, mothers offer to gestate their grandchildren in order to fulfill their children’s dream of becoming parents.

The story that we will share today is similar to these, but with a surprising twist: after several years trying to have a baby without success and finally opting for her mother to carry the pregnancy, a woman manages to conceive and have another baby almost at the same time. time .

Kelsi Pierce and her husband Kyle had been trying for a baby for several years. However, after three years of studies, surgeries and even IVF, they had not been successful.

According to Kelsi, doctors initially told her that she had low ovarian reserve, but when she tried to get pregnant, they found that her uterine lining was too thin and despite undergoing two-year treatments to try to thicken it, they finally told her that she couldn’t. carry a pregnancy .

The next thing was to begin to analyze options, because despite the difficulties they very much wanted to become mothers. There were two ways: adopt a baby or look for a surrogate mother , who could carry one of the four embryos that had remained from the treatments.

Knowing that Kelsi and Kyle had already spent all their savings on this dream, and seeing how much it hurt their daughter to know that she would not be able to have children, Lisa, Kelsi’s mother, decided to go to the doctor to find out if she could carry a baby. his grandson .

The idea came when she saw similar stories, and despite the fact that neither Kelsi nor her husband had considered it, the mother was determined to do everything possible to help them achieve that baby they so longed for .

At 53 years of age and after undergoing all the necessary tests, Lisa received the approval of the doctors to carry the pregnancy of her grandson and in February it was confirmed that she had become pregnant after carrying out the embryo transfer.

Kelsi and Kyle were very happy, because they would finally achieve their dream of having a baby, but they did not know that life would have another surprise in store for them only a month later .

Despite the fact that they were no longer trying to have a baby (or avoiding it), Kelsi took a pregnancy test, mainly as an automatic action after so many years in treatments, where every month she faced a negative result.

However, what was thought impossible happened: the pregnancy test came back positive . Naturally, Kelsi thought it was a mistake and a second test was run, which also came back positive. Then she went to the doctor, who confirmed her pregnancy.

” After hearing bad news for three years in a row and never leaving the doctor’s office happy, I couldn’t believe it. I think I cried for a whole month, ” says Kelsi in an interview for Good Morning America. After the news, Kelsi and Lisa lived their pregnancies together.

Everything went well for both of them, until in the 36th week of pregnancy, Lisa was diagnosed with preeclampsia, so Everly was born early and with some complications that made it necessary to spend a few days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) . Seven weeks later, Kelsi gave birth to her second baby: Ava.

The four women: mother and daughter and little Everly and Ava are in perfect condition, and the whole family is very happy to have achieved Kelsi and Kyle’s dream.
