Confinement has caused many people to gain kilos, due to anxiety caused by the situation, disorganized eating and leading a more sedentary life.
This is what happened to Tasha Davies, a 28-year-old British woman, who thought she had gained weight from confinement, but it turns out that she was pregnant without knowing it . A few hours after going to the doctor for severe abdominal pain, she gave birth to a baby who weighed 4.28 kilos and his name is Alexander.
According to an interview with the English newspaper Mirror , she did not have any symptoms of pregnancy, vomiting, or interruption of menstruation, so she thought she had gained weight because of the quarantine: “I was working many hours from home, I ate a lot and I didn’t go to the gym or do any exercise. “
Until one day he felt severe abdominal pain and decided to go to the hospital. When the nurses asked her if she was pregnant, she assured that she was not, but after taking a pregnancy test, the result was positive. Hours later, their first child was born .
This is undoubtedly an example of how life gives you surprises and can change from one day to the next. The couple had just bought a house three days ago, and without waiting, they already have a baby.
“I went to bed thinking about buying a dishwasher tomorrow,” said the baby’s father. “But instead I went to the hospital and found out that I was going to have a boy,” she added. While his wife was in the hospital, he bought clothes for the baby, diapers and everything necessary for a newborn.
Cryptic pregnancy
What this British woman has experienced is known as a cryptic pregnancy, a pregnancy in which the woman does not find out that she is pregnant until the moment of delivery .
It is associated with women who have irregular periods, (caused for example, by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), early menopause, or women who practice high-impact sports.
It can also happen when the contraceptive method fails or during breastfeeding, when there is no menstruation. In these cases, it is common for the period to disappear for months, and the woman may be pregnant without knowing it.
In this case, the fact that the increase in kilos was attributed to an increase in weight as a result of confinement, due to the coronavirus pandemic, is also added. And that she has had vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, something that some women may experience and she believed was menstruation.
It seems incredible that she has not noticed any symptoms or changes typical of pregnancy, nor the movements of the baby inside her womb, not even that the pains she felt were actually labor contractions … But as we see, it can happen and they are really cases surprising.
