The North American public may be fascinated by the Call of Duty saga, but if there is a brand that has been synonymous with success for decades, it is Nintendo. In fact, the Big N signs the 10 best-selling console exclusives since 1995 , and seven of them are from Wii.
This fascinating ranking has been shared by Matt Piscatella, an analyst at The NPD Group specializing in the video game industry. And best of all, neither Mario nor Link occupy the top two positions: Wii Fit and Wii Play prevail on the list.
The list of games ordered from the first to the tenth position can be seen below, with the corresponding subsequent correction that strengthens Super Mario 64 in the eighth position.
1. Wii Fit
2. Wii Play
3. Mario Kart Wii
4. Wii Fit Plus
5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
6. New Super Mario Bros (DS)
7. Mario Kart DS
8. Super Mario 64
9. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
10. Wii Sports Resort
As notes to consider, in this list only physical copies have been taken into account , not digital sales. Of course, the software included in the console packs has also been discarded. Although, if we review the titles, most of them have included some accessory or peripheral .
While the most successful PS4 games come from cross-platform, it is clear that Nintendo’s pampering for its licenses is quite profitable. Of course, neither Pikachu, nor Samus Aran, nor the hero of Hyrule have managed to position themselves beyond their participation in Smash Bros. Brawl. Will Switch turn the tables?
