'The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword' finally shows its full potential [TGS 2011]

It is very difficult to look with bad eyes or distrust a new Zelda . It’s my all-time favorite video game franchise and I’ve never been disappointed with its ongoing metamorphosis (okay, with the sole exception of the NES’s ‘Zelda 2’ ). It is a more than proven formula that continually mutates in a subtle way ( ‘Twilight Princess’ ) or radical ( ‘Wind Waker’ , ‘Majora’s Mask’ ), but it always works.

However I had certain doubts with ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’. At first the videos simply showed the benefits of Wii Motion Plus control . They were sad closed spaces where what mattered was the versatility of the sword’s movements. Then the joys began with the presentation of the floating islands and the mounts in the shape of colorful birds. Pleasant feelings of freedom and happiness were once again synonymous with Zelda . Now comes the real exposure of its potential. It was at the conference that Nintendo offered as a prelude to TGS 2011 , in a generous demo orchestrated by Miyamoto himself. Yes, there is no longer a doubt possible, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ will be huge.

The pastel-colored Zelda will last according to the colossal nature of its proposal, between 50 and 100 hours of play (I suppose that is the difference between getting to the point and enjoying the game quietly). Seeing the scenarios that are lost in the distance, I think that most will bet on enjoying its extension without haste, tasting each new location and enjoying its fluid and renewed gameplay.

‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ will close a year of celebrations with an outstanding delivery. Nintendo could not fail on this anniversary and has turned its genius and usual good work into one of its most beloved and respected franchises. Maybe Wii will die after that revelation, the machine’s journey comes to an end after a five-year period full of light and shadow. Link opened a new and controversial era with an excellent ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ , it is his turn to close it with ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ . Of course, it is difficult to think about the bad of these years with jewels as brilliant as these.
