Week 30 of pregnancy: your bones are developed, but still flexible

We have already reached the 30th week of pregnancy in our week-by-week pregnancy review. If all goes well, this is already a good week to start prepartum classes, although they usually start a little later.

Changes in the baby at week 30 of pregnancy

The baby’s measurements are about 39 cm from head to toe and the weight is about 1,500 grams. The bones are already developed , but they are still soft and flexible. To give them firmness, the baby begins to store iron, calcium and phosphorus.

You can already differentiate between sweet and savory flavors. (I’ve always wondered how doctors know that. Did they come in to ask you?)

His respiratory system continues to mature, and in fact, your baby rehearses respiratory movements and hiccups every day. But above all, the greatest change is going to be found in the maturation of the baby’s nervous system.

With regard to his sense of hearing, the baby begins to hear better the low sounds (low frequency), such as the mother’s heartbeat and the voice of his father (a good time to speak to the navel).

Changes in the mother at week 30 of pregnancy

The baby at these weeks begins to settle in the final position that he will have at birth, that is, head down and you may notice him embedded in the cervix. The baby begins to prepare for the moment of delivery, although it can still be turned over more times.

At this time, fetus kicks can be very uncomfortable , especially those near the ribs and on the diaphragm.

Your belly begins to be very bulky and the skin is very tight, which can cause annoying itching, so it is convenient to hydrate the area well.

There are 10 weeks to go and it is a good time to consider reducing your pace of life if you have not already done so. You must have time to relax, rest, and take care of yourself.

From this week until week 36, visits to the gynecologist are made every four to six weeks.

Although each pregnant woman and each baby are different, these are the main changes that occur in the mother and the baby during the 30th week of pregnancy . Do not stop following your pregnancy week by week.

Next week: week 31 of pregnancy

When we are in the final stretch of our pregnancy and we think about childbirth, it is normal to feel uncertainty and nervousness, especially if it is our first time. For many women, it is important to know well the hospital where they will give birth, and even to have good references that help them face the moment in a more relaxed and confident way.

I have realized that my mental burden as a mother did not begin after...

A few days ago I reflected on the way in which motherhood has changed my life. All of us who have been through this know that, although we do not all experience it in the same way (the mere fact of giving birth at term or not can make a huge difference), exhaustion and mental load is a common denominator that identify them all. But when does that mental load really start?
