Almost four decades have passed since the first Wolfenstein in 2D, although we all know that the pitch came with Wolfenstein 3D in 1992, dubbed the father of FPS for bringing it to the masses, although it was not the pioneer from that perspective. Until MachineGames took the reins in 2014 through Wolfenstein: The New Order, the best installment until then was Return to Castle Wolfenstein , which is precisely its 20th anniversary.
And what better way to celebrate it than with an addition for your best … “added”? Yes, we are talking about this mod that took on a life of its own (Wolfentein: Enemy Territory) and that this 2021 it will finally receive a campaign in conditions thanks to William Faure .
This modder in charge of Dark Matter Productions has been working on this mod for a long time, which he has simply christened Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory – Single-Player (yes, with the “one player” catchphrase at the end) to emphasize that now we will have a exclusive campaign. Because we must not forget that Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was a game focused on multiplayer .
Now, contrary to what his catchphrase suggests, the campaign can be played both solo and cooperatively (in a later addition) , facing a conversion of the maps seen in the aforementioned ET. In fact, its author plans to keep expanding it with more content as it receives the go-ahead for other fan-created maps. Because this project will be available totally free, just like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory . There will only be one requirement: to have an original copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
And when can we play it? It will make its debut in modDB on November 19, 2021 , to coincide with the 20th anniversary of that “return to the castle” when it was released in the North American market, doing the same on Steam on November 30 … coinciding with the premiere of that “return to the castle” in Europe. Wunderbar!
