The idea of comfort is so pervasive at Yardbird Southern Table and Bar in Las Vegas that you almost forget that it is not socially acceptable to lick those fingers. Yes, you will want to experience every last drop of flavor, but avoid feeling too comfortable.
Find a sofa in the front and relax and soon you will find yourself thinking of unbuttoning the top button. Naps are not allowed, but the lounge area will make you want to stay longer. Large portions, friendly people and a good atmosphere are the recipe for success.

The food
Simply put, food is the right combination of comfortable but complicated. The flavors are so precise that you know someone in the kitchen knows exactly what to do. Not that they are simply pouring a waffle into a waffle maker and getting an amazing cheddar cheese masterpiece that only rises with the bourbon maple syrup. While the menu options may seem like the classics you really love, it’s definitely not the simple way you’re used to having it.
The shared portions are huge, so plan to share a plate or two with your dinner guests.
What to try
These are some of the delicious dishes featured at Yardbird. But keep in mind that menu items are always subject to change.
- Chicken ‘n’ watermelon ‘n’ waffles : If all you ate was watermelon, you could still say it’s the best meal you’ve ever had in Vegas. Spicy and citrusy just to help bring out the flavors in the fried chicken that’s so good it’ll make you cry.
- Short Ribs and Grits – This feels like fancy picnic food in the best possible way. The charred corn is noteworthy because it holds up against ribs that just slide off the bone.
- The fried catfish will make you want to start trying that trick where you put your hand in a hole and try to pull out a big fish. Don’t, just order it here and try not to think about unhealthy fats. This is so good that you have to believe it is bad for you. This catfish must be a sin.
- Roasted and smoked bone marrow is what you’ll want to start spreading on your crisp toast every day, except your doctor will inform you that your numbers aren’t looking good.
- Butter Lettuce and Grilled Mango Salad may be the beginning of the end of your marriage because this is one dish you won’t want to share.
