The fighting genre is a classic among classics in the world of video games. From the arcade machines that so many good afternoons have shown the most fans to the impressive world championships that are organized , these types of titles have managed to conquer the public and it is not for less: the countdown running, the buttons being pressed at all speed, the throbbing rivalry, the explosive combos … Great games like Mortal Kombat , Street Fighter or the many Dragon Balls have established a standard in the fighting genre over the years; but the standards are to be broken and that’s what Fight Crab has come for.
With tweezers and teeth
The idea is as simple as it is bizarre . Two giant crabs go in, only one comes out. Using the powerful claws of one of the 19 different crabs to choose from, it will be necessary to defeat the opponent by making him fall on his back and keeping him that way for a while, while continuing to hit him to lower his defenses and make him weaker. This peculiar title has been developed by the company Nussoft , specialized in indie games and with a history of titles with marine creatures as protagonists ( Ace of Seafood and Neo Aquarium – The King of Crustaceans ).
The confrontations will take place in scenarios ( with a regular but acceptable graphic quality ) as varied and picturesque as the bottom of the sea, a modern city, a medieval hall, a fortification of Japan of the samurai, a supermarket or a restaurant table Asian . Although crabs are presented as giant creatures, it seems that some scenarios will make them the size of a normal crustacean.
But as if the clean claw fighting between giant crabs (which have their charm, we do not deny it) were not enough, Nussoft wanted to add some spice to the matter and provide the player with a wide arsenal of weapons with which to crush their opponent . From the images and information that is known so far, we will find more than 40 firearms and melee weapons . Swords (sabers, jaws, katanas), shields, axes, hammers reminiscent of Thor’s Mjolnir , maces, halberds, chains, fans, lightsabers, powered drills, missile launchers, shotguns, chainsaws and even a fish will be some of the objects we can wield. Isn’t that grotesque enough for you? Relax, the crabs will also be able to launch a Kame hame ha .

It is difficult, without being their own creators, to know what went through their heads to create Fight Crab . Perhaps they were inspired by one of the videos that circulate on the Internet in which a crab grabs a knife to defend itself . It may have emerged as a bad joke inspired by the movie of the same name El Club de la Lucha ( Fight Club in English, which sounds similar to Fight Crab ) . We don’t know, but we don’t need it either.
Creativity and madness often go hand in hand and an idea as far-fetched as this could not do anything but attract glances and raise the hype , even if only because of the laughter. It is interesting to propose a fighting game, usually starring muscular men and hypersexualized women, in which the fights between crabs that we can find in nature are taken to a new level by changing their size and adding weapons of all kinds to this peculiar mix . Fight Crab promises to up the ante and become a game that, ridiculous as it is, will win over audiences.
The title is available in its early access phase through Itch.io and is scheduled to hit the market in late 2019 for Nintendo Switch and PC . In the version for the Nintendo console, the Joy-Con (controls that detect and reproduce the movement of the hands) can be used to move the claws of the crab and handle the weapons.
