We return like every month to do the usual review of the best-selling games in our country, to know where the market is moving and what people are taking home lately.
The last time we looked at it, the list had better color than other times, especially since there was finally a game of a lifetime at the top of the ranking: ‘Resident Evil 5’. Yes, one of those in which the box comes with a disc and some instructions, and stop counting. Not like now that to be the best seller you have to be a controller with a gift set, a gift plastic steering wheel or a balance board …
As you may have deduced, and because the image that illustrates the post makes it clear, Nintendo’s deadly trident once again breaks in with force and is placed, once again, occupying the podium of the best sellers in Spain: ‘Wii Play’, ‘Wii Fit’ and ‘Mario Kart Wii’ .
Unfortunately the rest of the list is not more encouraging. They are saved in fourth place ‘Resident Evil 5’ of PS3 and, in fifth place, the excellent ‘Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village’ of NDS . The others, the expected ones. ‘ FIFA 09′ is crowned king of football with the radical disappearance of ‘ PES 2009′ from the list and the ‘Mario Power Tennis’ and the ‘Trivial Pursuit’ of Wii also sneak around.
If then we are going to look at the sales lists of each of the consoles separately, we see how sanity is not completely lost, although everything is possible.
On PlayStation 3 it stands out that, in addition to ‘Resident Evil 5’ and after their corresponding price reductions, some great games like ‘Metal Gear Solid 4’, ‘Assassin’s Creed’ or ‘Far Cry 2’ are experiencing a second chance and the public is responding with purchases. ‘Killzone 2’ remains one more month as one of the ten best sellers on Sony’s console.
As for Xbox 360, the situation is very similar. ‘Resident Evil 5’ is the king of the party and then some “classics” of the console like ‘Dead Space’, ‘Fallout 3’ or ‘Halo 3’ are in the Top 10 of the console. Accompanied by others like ‘Prince of Persia’ or ‘ FIFA 09′, the Xbox 360 list is a clear indicator of why I have this console and not others.
As individual details that should not escape us, comment that ‘Resistance: Retribution’ finally appears on the PSP list, or that ‘GTA: Chinatown Wars’ seems to go back in NDS and is located in one of the highest positions of Nintendo’s laptop.
In short, little new under the sun …
