Makenna Myler is a professional athlete from Utah (United States) whose images running nine months pregnant have gone around the world . The woman, used to racing, decided to bet with her husband that she would be able to run a little over a kilometer and a half in less than eight minutes, and boy did she succeed!
Specifically, it took five minutes and 25 seconds , an incredible mark within the reach of few runners and which is even more surprising given its advanced stage of pregnancy. The video was shared by her partner on social networks and it is truly shocking to see her run at that pace a few days after giving birth.

Makenna represents the United States in the long-distance tests , but despite this pregnant woman, she has not stopped training. So much so that she decided to take on the challenge proposed by her husband, Mike Myler, of running a mile (approximately one kilometer and 600 meters) in less than eight minutes when she was in the final stretch of pregnancy.
The feat was videotaped by her husband and shared on his social networks. In it, Makenna can be seen running at a surprising pace for her advanced stage of pregnancy, while her husband encourages her from outside.
In an interview with the newspaper Today, the athlete joked that although the first two laps on the track had been very comfortable, from that moment on the weight of her belly changed her style “until she became a penguin.”
As often happens in these cases, the debate on social networks has not been long in coming and although there have been many users who have praised its trademark, others have wondered if running with that intensity during pregnancy could harm the baby.
But just over a week after this video was published, the athlete’s husband reassured his followers by announcing that they had become parents to a girl , and the whole process, since the water broke and went for a walk to accelerate the contractions, Until she had her baby in her arms, it was also recorded and posted on Instagram.

Can you run during pregnancy without risk to the baby?
Exercising during pregnancy (as long as it is a pregnancy without risk) brings many benefits, since it not only helps the woman maintain a healthy weight avoiding the complications associated with an excess of it, but also helps combat the typical discomforts such as fluid retention, muscle aches or constipation, in addition to favoring the time of delivery, being able to shorten its duration.
Among the most recommended exercises are those of low impact such as swimming, stretching gymnastics, yoga, Pilates or walking. In contrast, high-impact exercises, among which running would be found, are not recommended, although there are exceptions .
And is that if you already ran regularly before getting pregnant or are even a professional athlete like Makenna, you can continue practicing this sport if you wish, as long as your pregnancy does not involve any risk and your doctor considers it.
Likewise, it is important that you listen to your body and pay attention to its sensations , in addition to maintaining proper hydration. On the other hand, you must also take into account that the posture of the body is modified as the pregnancy progresses and the center of gravity changes forward, so you must be especially careful to avoid tripping or falling that could put into risk to the baby.
That is why many runners prefer to change running for power walking (walking at a good pace) when they become pregnant, especially at the end of pregnancy when fatigue and the weight of the belly begin to be especially noticeable.
If, on the other hand, you have never run, pregnancy is not a good time to start running , so it is recommended to wait until you recover from childbirth if you want to start practicing this sporting discipline.
