Snails are one of the traditional dishes in the gastronomy of Mallorca. It is a recipe that, although it is not complicated, requires a lot of time so we must prepare it in advance. We can enjoy it at lunch at home with the family or at a meeting with friends. It will always stand out on any menu for its incredible appearance and delicious taste. The Mallorcan snails are an ideal stew for any occasion, which we should definitely try at some point.
Snail meat is very nutritious. It is low in fat and calories, making it ideal for weight loss diets. It is also rich in minerals such as phosphorus and calcium, essential for healthy bones and teeth. The iron it has helps fight anemia.
Similarly, snails provide vitamin A, B9, B12, B3 and E. They are a source of Omega 3 that improves heart function. Its high levels of selenium benefit the immune system. They are also a source of protein, essential for building and repairing muscles.

How to prepare Majorcan snails:
- We wash the meats very well and chop them . We dry with a kitchen paper.
- Cut the onion into brunoise and peel the tomato along with the garlic.
- In a saucepan with olive oil, fry the chopped onion.
- When poached we add the peeled tomato and cook over low heat.
- We clean the snails very well , neatly. In a pot with cold water we cook them over medium heat. When they start to boil we leave about three minutes and remove the water.
- We add clean water and add the aromatic herbs . We boil for about an hour.
- In the casserole with the onion and tomato we include all the meats, the chopped ham tip and the butifarrones. Mix and pour the chicken broth.
- Add the white wine and bay leaves . We cook until the alcohol evaporates.
- When the snails are ready we put them in the pot with the stew. We add the broth in which the snails were to give it the herb taste.
- Add salt and pepper, cook for another five minutes and remove the herbs. Cook a few more minutes and serve.
