Sipping a chai latte tea is a luxury. Chai tea is a mixture of green or black tea flavored with spices and aromatic herbs. Although for us Europeans it may be a new drink, in reality it is not, it is a typical drink of southern India called masala chai , widely consumed throughout the world.
The spices that are traditionally added to it are cardamom, pepper, star anise, cloves, cinnamon and ginger , although in western India anise or pepper is not added, they do it with green tea and almonds and sometimes saffron are added. As you can see, it is a preparation that supports different versions. Today chai tea is sold ready-made, although purists can make their own blends if they prefer. In any case, you can add hot water or milk to chai tea, and even on summer days it can be taken cold and beaten with whipped cream, a real delicacy. The amount of milk will depend on the taste of each person, there are those who prefer to put only half and the rest of milk. Add sugar to taste if you prefer.
If you want it to have foam, what you can do is foam the milk before serving it in the cups. And if you want it cold, add the cold milk and some ice cubes, leave it in the fridge for a while and you will have your cold chai latte ready.
